Sciatica is a condition from the lumbar spine (back) where tissue which sits between the vertebrae (bones in the spine), slips and causes irritation on nerves that are passing through to the legs. The result is of awful back pain and leg pain. Very occasionally when a nerve is pinched in the spine, it can present with pain in the buttock or around the hip.
